Blizzard reveals Diablo 4’s newest class, the Rogue

Demon Hunter and Assassin fans get their Dexterity class

Diablo 4’s fourth class is the hybridized melee/ranged fighter, the Rogue. Blizzard announced the new class alongside a trailer during Friday’s BlizzConline opening ceremony.

More than a year after Blizzard announced Diablo 4 and its three starting classes — the Barbarian, the Druid, and the Sorceresses — the studio finally showed players something new. The Rogue is the Diablo 4 stand-in for Diablo 2’s Assassin and Diablo 3’s Demon Hunter. They can use melee weapons like daggers and bows to deal damage from range. They also specialize in traps, shadow magic, and poisons.

Diablo 4’s fifth class is still a mystery.

After a year of blog posts, the rest of the Diablo 4 news in the opening ceremony was fairly light. Blizzard will likely reveal more about Diablo 4 during its various Diablo panels on Friday evening.

In an interview with Polygon ahead of BlizzConline, Diablo 4 game director Luis Barriga said that while the game is in a playable state, Blizzard still isn’t ready to put a timeline on it yet. Players likely won’t get their hands on Diablo 4 in any capacity until at least 2022.
