With its new season less than a day old, Apex Legends already has some fresh news for players. The battle royale game developed by Respawn Entertainment is heading to Nintendo Switch on March 9. The developer announced the port’s release date with a short post on the game’s website.
The Nintendo Switch version of Apex Legends will be co-developed by Respawn and Panic Button. While this may be the smallest platform Apex has ever been released on, that doesn’t mean that this version will be missing anything from its larger console and PC counterparts. The Nintendo Switch version will include all of the features of the full-sized version of Apex, including cross-platform play. To help make up for the slightly different controls, size, and technical limitations of the platform, the Switch version of Apex Legends will feature a few unique optimizations to bring it in line with the other versions of the game.
Apex Legends season 8 kicked off on Tuesday as well, which means that the Switch version of the game will launch right in the middle of the season. All of the content in season 8 will be included in the Switch version at launch, and Switch players will get 30 levels of the current battle pass upgrades for free, to make up for the late start. Switch players will also get double XP for the first two weeks after the game’s release.
Similar to other platforms, Apex Legends on Nintendo Switch will be free to play.
