Stock up on fighter planes with 50% discounts on some of DCS World’s best modules

Fire the big guns on a Warthog for 30% less

Eagle Dynamics, makers of the DCS World platform and the legendary series of A-10 Warthog flight simulators, is having a massive sale for the next 10 days. The Lunar Sale marks down most modules to 50% off, so if you’ve been looking for something more advanced than Microsoft Flight Simulator, it’s time to pull the trigger. Note that the sale is only available on the Eagle Dynamics online storefront, and does not apply to the same modules sold via Steam.

DCS World launched in 2008 and is a free-to-play flight simulation platform with two flyable planes: the American TF-51 Mustang and Russian Su-25T. Additional modules are sold at roughly the same price as a stand-alone AAA game, and feature aircraft from World War II to the present day — even helicopters.

According to a newsletter sent out Friday, the Lunar Sale marks down just about everything by 50% with the following exceptions:

  • P-47D Thunderbolt is 30% off.
  • The Channel terrain pack, which highlights the English Channel circa 1940, is 30% off.
  • F/A-18C Hornet is 30% off.
  • F-16C Viper is 30% off.
  • A-10C II Tank Killer, which is the latest version of the Warthog released in October, is 30% off.
  • The Supercarrier add-on pack is also 30% off.

The new F-14A/B Tomcat will only have a 15% discount, and the JF-17 Thunder will cost $59.99. New campaigns are not included in the sale, nor is the DCS: Syria terrain pack. Same with the DCS: Syria module.

Note that DCS World is just about as high-end as it gets as far as consumer flight simulations go. It’s essentially the same platform used by the U.S. Air Force to train on in virtual reality. For a slightly less intimidating approach, check out DCS: Flaming Cliffs 3, which is a steal at $24.99.
