Drawing games have always been a special part of the Jackbox party packs. Crafting perfect quips and giving extemporaneous speeches can be nerve-wracking for some, but drawing a silly picture of Sanic is fun for everyone. Champ’D up is the latest drawing game, available in JackBox Party Pack 7, and we took it for a spin on the latest episode of Overboard with special guest (and professional artist) Dami Lee!
Champ’D up is all about pitting drawings against each other to see who is the “champion” of some topic. At the start of a round, players get a secret prompt to draw the champion of ... something. That something could be simple, like the “Champion of the gym,” or a more esoteric concept, like the “Champion of short attention spans”. Players get a couple minutes to draw their champion and, critically, giving it a name. Next, players receive a drawing from one of the other players along with its name, but not the prompt. In other words, players must draw a challenger without actually knowing what the prompt is.
It might seem hard at first defeating a champion without knowing what they’re the champion of, but there are lots of creative ways to one-up another drawing. There’s even space for players to trip up their opponents with deceptive names and drawings. It’s also a Jackbox game, so even a wildly-off-topic drawing can still be very funny, and isn’t that what ultimately matters?
