We’ve lost track of how many crossovers and cameos Shovel Knight has made since the franchise’s sole game launched seven years ago. The count is easily north of two dozen crossovers, and could be three or more. The dude gets more work than Barry Manilow in Vegas. And his latest gig is with Arby’s.
Arby’s Kids Meals will come with a launcher token that includes a code for some DLC in Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove on Nintendo Switch and Windows PC via Steam. Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove is the December 2019 re-release that packed in three additional campaigns. (It’s also available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, but the Arby’s DLC won’t work there.)
A tweet from Arby’s doesn’t say what, exactly, this DLC does, although it looks like each of Shovel Knight’s five characters will get some sort of cosmetic, either a weapon or a skin. Interestingly, Plague Knight had to be renamed to “Doctor Knight” (quote marks theirs), probably because this is a kids meal and we’re still dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Oh it’s happening! Collect all Seven Shovel Knight Launcher Tokens, now available in Arby’s Kids Meals, for a limited-time only. https://t.co/5VzHNddIEL pic.twitter.com/10dgCMzMQR
