Just Die Already is a new game from the designers of Goat Simulator, and it’s a similarly wacky sandbox experience. Players take control of an older person who’s been kicked out of their retirement home, and they’re now on the streets. That’s a pretty depressing game premise, but when you look at the concept in action, it’s all about going wild.
While players have unlimited freedom to steal cars and flamethrowers, they’re also relatively fragile. Luckily, you’re also able to sustain heavy damage. One player review reads: “Instructions unclear, now a rolling torso in heavy traffic.”
It sounds as though this isn’t the cleanest game. Another player review reads: “ The physics in this game is so jank it will leave your character dead from doing the most basic of tasks. Oh get in this vehicle and squish a person? My car went to the moon, sure sounds fun the first couple of times, but the game is just a buggy mess.”
Just Die Already may not be winning any prestigious awards, but it’s also another installment in the popular genre of physics-based sandboxes. It may scratch a particular itch, especially if you feel like being an unstoppable elder.
