As Meta rolls out its new, improved Quest 3 VR headset, we’ve started seeing stock-clearing offers on its predecessor, the Quest 2 — and this Cyber Monday heralds the arrival of the best deal yet on Quest 2.

This affordable, standalone VR headset is reduced by $50 to $249 — with a $50 gift card to spend on whatever you want. (That’s for the 128 GB model. The 256 GB headset is also reduced, to $299.) The deal is available at Amazon, and seems to be online at a bunch of other retailers too, so check your preferred store.

While Quest 3 has it beaten on features and specs, the newer headset is some $200 more expensive, and represents quite an investment. It’s for that reason that Quest 2 remains the best buy for the VR-curious out there. As a standalone device that doesn’t require a beefy PC or a PlayStation 5 to run — and is completely wireless to boot — Quest 2 is by far the cheapest, most approachable , and most fuss-free way to get into virtual reality.

Remember that you can also hook it up to a PC (either wirelessly or through a wired connection) to play more technically demanding titles like Half-Life: Alyx, among others. At this price point, Quest 2 is the ideal starter VR headset.
