The Last of Us Part 2 guide: Every Safe location and combination

There are 14 Safes to find throughout The Last of Us Part 2. Opening them all means finding an Artifact with the combination (or a hint to the combination), and then finding the Safe.

In this guide, we’ve listed every Safe location, along with the Artifacts you’ll need to find for their combinations. We’ve also included the combinations, too.

We’ve organized our The Last of Us Part 2 Safe code guide chronologically by chapters, the names of which you see on title cards as you begin them. To avoid spoilers, we’ve left out some information (you’ll understand why eventually). We’ve also included a gigantic spoiler image to give you the heads-up below, too.

Just about every chapter has also has subchapters or sections, like Jackson – Patrol and Seattle Day 1 – Downtown. We've included both below, and you can begin playing at any point from The Last of Us Part 2’s main menu. Select Story > Chapters > [CHAPTER NAME] > [SECTION / SUBCHAPTER NAME].

Jackson Safe locations and codes

There is 1 Safe in Jackson. You’ll find it during the Patrol section.

Jackson – Patrol Safe locations and codes

You’ll find this safe during the Patrol section of Jackson. The safe and code are in the supermarket while Ellie and Dina are on patrol.

After you’ve popped on your mask for the first time and squeezed through the crack in the wall, head through the closed door to your right.

As soon as you open the door, you’ll see a safe. To its right, there’s the Good Boy Combo Artifact that will tell you how to find the code.

Back in the hallway, directly across from the crack you squeezed through, you’ll see the portraits of each employee of the month. Look for the doggy, and check the date. July 2013. Return to the Safe and enter 07-20-13 for a bunch of supplements.

Seattle Day 1 Safe locations and codes

There are 4 Safes to find in Seattle Day 1 (Ellie). Three of them are in the Downtown section, and one is in Capitol Hill.

Seattle Day 1 – Downtown Safe locations and codes

You can visit the buildings around Downtown Seattle in any order you want. We’ve included maps to help you find each safe.

Seattle Day 1 – Downtown Safe 1 of 3

Ride to the ruins of the City Hall (on Cherry and 6th) and follow the path down into the building.

You’ll end up in a combat encounter with some infected in what used to be a bank. On the left side of the room, through the door labeled “SAFE DEPOSIT LOCKERS,” you’ll find the Bank Heist Plans Artifact sitting on the floor.

It’s hard to miss the safe. It’s huge and in the room labeled “SAFE DEPOSIT LOCKERS,” where you can also find the Bank Heist Plans Artifact. The safe code is written on the Bank Heist Plans Artifact: 60-23-06.

Seattle Day 1 – Downtown Safe 2 of 3

While searching for gas, you’ll head into the courthouse. To the right of the elevator banks, you’ll see a window you can smash and jump through. Do that.

To your right, you’ll find the safe combination written on a whiteboard.

In the same room, directly beneath the window you broke to get into this office is the safe. Use the code — 86-07-22 — to open it.

Seattle Day 1 – Downtown Safe 3 of 3

This Safe is at the West 2 Checkpoint on Madison Street. You’ll find the code down the street.

Head to this block on the map, near the intersection of Madison St. and 6th Ave.

Walk up these overgrown stairs, and turn around at the top. Check the satchel on the ground by the green box, and you’ll find the WLF Community Supply Chest Note Artifact.

At the far west end of Madison Street, squeeze through the gate and turn to your right to circle around to the Safe. The combination is the same as the code to gate West 2 (0451).

Seattle Day 1 – Capitol Hill safe location and code

After Downtown, you’ll head into a few streets of the Capitol Hill area. One of the buildings you’ll explore is a thrift shop, and the safe is inside.

Through the back door of the thrift shop, you’ll grab the Thrift Store Reminder Artifact note from the corkboard immediately to your right. This will give you most of the safe combination.

In the room opposite the corkboard, you’ll find an injured infected, as well as the Thrift Store Safe. You can find the rest of the combination to the safe on the bathroom wall. It’s 55-01-33.

Seattle Day 2 (Ellie) Safe location

There are 3 Safes to find during Seattle Day 2. You’ll find one during Hillcrest, and two during The Seraphites.

There is one Safe to find in Hillcrest. You’ll start in the pet store that is attached to the bar (like the best pet stores are) at the end of the street.

Exit the pet store through the hole in the wall. Run diagonally to the back of the bar where you’ll find several notices taped up. One of them is the Dale’s Combo Artifact, which includes the combination 30-82-65 for a safe located in the nearby auto shop.

Across the street, look for the tattoo shop. From Velvet Tattoo’s backdoor, you can see the garage housing the safe. Look for “AUTO” written on gray bricks in big, white letters.

A dumpster is blocking the door. Move it out of the way to access the safe. You may want to craft some Molotov cocktails and reload your guns before heading in — the garage is full of infected. Once you’ve dealt with them, use the code 30-82-65 on the safe to grab some parts and ammo.

Seattle Day 2 – The Seraphites Safe locations and codes

The other 2 Safes in this chapter are in The Seraphites.

Seattle Day 2 – The Seraphites Safe 1 of 2

As you make your way along the street in this section, you’ll see an apartment building. The door is locked but if you turn right from the door and head down the stairs you’ll find a narrow window that you can shimmy though while prone. Head up to the lobby, then up another flight of stairs. The door on your left is locked, but you can break the window and step out on the awning. From there, jump to the awning in front of the room, then break the glass to enter. Walk to the kitchen table where you’ll find the Evacuation Letter Artifact with instructions to open the safe: the couple’s wedding date.

From the Safe Combination Letter location, head back to the bedroom. On the back wall, to the right of the bed, find a calendar with three dates on it. The one you want is the couple’s 30th anniversary: 10/08/13. Subtract 30 years to get the combination: 10-08-83.

From the calendar, turn back toward the door and you should spot a safe in the closet. Use the combination above 10-08-83 to open it. Inside you’ll find ammo for several guns and supplements.

Seattle Day 2 – The Seraphites Safe 2 of 2

Inside Weston Pharmacy, circle around the counter. Beneath and to the right of the cash register, find the Pharmacy Note, which includes the combination to a nearby safe 38-55-23.

From the Pharmacy Note location, turn left to head deeper into the store. On the left, look for a low hole in the wall, and then crawl through. Once on the other side, the safe is right in front of you. Input the code 38-55-23 to get some supplies.

Seattle Day 3 (Ellie) Safe locations and codes

There is 1 Safe to find during Seattle Day 3 (Ellie) during The Flooded City section.

Seattle Day 3 – The Flooded City Safe location and code

As you’re boating through the eponymous city, you’ll have to disembark and explore a building.

Upstairs in that building, you’ll spot a ferris wheel through a window. From there, turn left to find a dead man, Randall, and his letter to someone named Beth. The Stash Note includes a combination 70-12-64.

With the safe combination in hand, walk to the other end of the room, and roll the box out of the way. Go prone and crawl through until you’re above the fenced-in area to the right of the gate.

Drop down and use the code 70-12-64 on the safe to grab some ammo.

Seattle Day 1 (Abby) Safe locations and codes

There are 3 Safes to find as Abby during Seattle Day 1. There is one each in On Foot, Hostile Territory, and The Coast.

Seattle Day 1 – On Foot Safe location and code

After the Scar attack at the end of the previous section, you’ll make your way through a warehouse and a garden center, and then to a lot with a trailer in the middle.

Inside the trailer, look for the filing cabinet in front of the coffee pot, pick up the WLF Gun Cache Note, with a reference to a lockup and a hint that “the big win” is the combination.

To open the safe referenced in the Paul to Marta letter Artifact, look for the numbers circled in red on the lottery ticket displayed next to the computer desk. The combination is 17-38-07.

Exit the trailer and cross over to the MS Corporation Soft Drink Distribution Center. The door’s locked, so walk over to the side of the building that faces the train tracks and slip inside through the crevice in the wall. The safe is located on your left as you shimmy in. Punch in the combo and a few packs of ammo are yours.

Seattle Day 1 – Hostile Territory Safe location and code

You’ll find this section’s safe while Abby and her friends are exploring the ruined city.

Enter Ruby Dragon, the restaurant whose red and white marquee is obscured by ivy, and then take the stairs in the back to get to the second floor. After clearing out the clickers, walk to the balcony and hop across to the other side of the street. Enter the room on the left. There, you’ll find the Jasmine Bakery Safe letter from someone named Mei to Bo. It contains the code to a safe 68-96-89.

Return to ground level and seek out Jasmine Bakery, which has a boarded up front door. Break a window to enter, then run back behind the counter to find a safe. Enter the code 68-96-89 to find supplements, ammo and crafting materials.

Seattle Day 1 – The Coast Safe location and code

After Hostile Territory and The Forest, you’ll reach The Coast. After a bit of a swim, you’ll enter a beached ship.

Advance to the second floor of the ship, past a sign reading “Passenger Assembly Area.” You’ll open up onto a long hallway, where you’ll find the crossbow and a few infected. Take the infected out, then advance to the end of the hallway where you’ll find a letter underneath a Washington Transit Authority (WTA) logo on the wall. The Mutiny Note includes a code for a safe on board: 90-77-01.

When you reach the top deck of the ship, turn to your left immediately to find the cabin housing the safe. Unlock it with the code you found below 90-77-01.

Seattle Day 2 Safe locations and codes

There are 2 Safes to find during Seattle Day 2 as Abby. There is one to find in The Shortcut, and one in The Descent.

While heading toward the sky bridge, Abby will have to cross a river. The building on the other side is where you’ll find this section’s safe.

Jump off the bridge to the balcony on the left, smash the glass to enter an apartment with a tabletop RPG left out on the table.

Progress past the kitchen to find the Neighbor Exchange note on the table with the whiteboard. This will give you the clue to figure out the combination for the safe: 30-23-04.

From the Neighbor Exchange artifact, turn around and enter the closest room. The safe is against the wall. Enter the code 30-23-04 to grab some ammo and crafting supplies.

Seattle Day 2 – The Descent Safe location and code

Once you reach — and fall off of — the sky bridge, you’ll fall into a pool. The gym nearby is where you’ll find the next safe.

Enter the Orchards juice bar, and proceed to the back of the store.

In the kitchen, you’ll find the Gym Safe Combo Artifact pinned to the bulletin board. It will tell you that there’s a safe for employee belongings in the cleaning closet with a code that matches the Wi-Fi.

To find the Wi-Fi password, return to the pool area. On your right on the way there, there’s a door that leads to an exercise room. From the entrance, you should see the Wi-Fi symbol immediately in front of you. The password (and the combination) is: 12-18-79.

From the Wi-Fi sign, run through the exercise room until you see the stairs/exit, next to a sign that says “21st floor.” The janitorial closet is to the left of this door. Enter and find the safe on your right.
