In a new Pixar short, Soul co-star 22 launches a crusade against being born

Who needs life anyway?

Pixar’s upcoming short 22 vs. Earth takes place before the events of the Academy Award-winning Soul, and it follows grumpy soul 22 (Tina Fey) as she launches a crusade against being born. In the first teaser for the short, she recruits five other baby souls to tell them how horrible life is, and how they should do everything in their power not to end up on Earth. But her mission might not go as planned…

Soul tells the story of Joe Gardner (Jamie Foxx), a music teacher who winds up in the Great Before after a tragic accident. He meets 22 and learns more about how souls become people, all while trying to get back into his body so he can fulfill his dreams. The movie was originally supposed to premiere in theaters in summer of 2020, but got pushed to a Disney Plus release in December due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On Sunday, Soul won Best Animated Feature at the 93rd Academy Awards, continuing a long run of Pixar Oscar wins.

22 vs. Earth premieres on Disney Plus on April 30.
