The Book of Boba Fett trailer turns the Star Wars bounty hunter into the Godfather

The show arrives this December

Boba Fett is the new crime lord of Tatooine in the trailer for Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett. The first look for the new Disney Plus series, due in December, was released on Monday.

Not everyone in the galaxy is happy about Boba Fett’s (Temuera Morrison) new place of leadership among the criminals of Star Wars’ most famous desert planet, but he and Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen) have plenty of firepower to keep things under control. The trailer shows the team trying to keep the peace among the planet’s petty criminals, and even threatening proving that they’re more benevolent rulers than Jabba and the Huts — mostly.

The Book of Boba Fett is technically a spinoff of Disney Plus’ The Mandalorian, where Boba was reintroduced to the Star Wars universe after appearing to die in 1983’s Return of the Jedi.

However, Boba Fett’s new show is not a replacement for The Mandalorian season 3. Apparently, the third season began shooting right after The Book of Boba Fett’s filming ended, which could mean we’ll see the return of Din Djarin sometime in 2022.

The Book of Boba Fett arrives on Disney Plus on Dec. 29.
