The mayhem-fueled sandbox game from Deep Silver, Saints Row: The Third Remastered, is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X on May 25. The next-gen version of the game will bring visual improvements, like better textures and the option to run at 60 frames per second, according to the company’s announcement.
Those who currently own the game will be able to get the upgrade for free. Both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X players will get a bump to 60 fps in 4K, and Xbox Series S users will be able to switch between a performance mode that runs at 30 fps and a higher-resolution, beauty-focused mode that runs at 60 fps in 1080p. The Xbox version also takes advantage of the newer hardware to lower load screen times.
Saints Row: The Third Remastered is sort like a GTA game, except even more lowbrow and more flamboyant. Polygon’s review describes one scene during which the reviewer’s character hangs halfway out of a helicopter wearing a black-fringed wizard robe, only to dive into the city below him. These sorts of shenanigans are par for the course in Saints Row. Now, console players will finally get that smoother, prettier experience with all the antics that come with the franchise.
Correction: A previous version of this article misstated that Saints Row: The Third Remastered will not run at 60 fps in 4K on Xbox Series X. It will, and the article has been updated to reflect this information.
