Nintendo will release a new amiibo figure featuring Zelda and Loftwing alongside The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD for Nintendo Switch. The $24.99 amiibo will let players quickly travel to the skies — even from within dungeons — anywhere on the surface world.
You can see the new feature in action in Nintendo’s trailer for the Zelda and Loftwing amiibo above. The amiibo can return you from the surface world to the sky, or scanning in the amiibo while in the sky can zap players back to the spot they originally scanned from the surface. It’s a handy fast-travel update to the Wii game, bit it’s not clear if that option is exclusive to the amiibo or that players will be able to acquire this ability through other means.

On the one hand, it will be a nice convenience for amiibo collectors who want to get the most out of their purchase — and as many YouTube commenters have pointed out, it’ll be amusing to see how Skyward Sword speedrunners exploit the new fast-travel feature. But it also appears to be a steep asking price for a more convenient way to play the game.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD and the Zelda and Loftwing amiibo will be released July 16.
