Hulu’s new movie False Positive has some serious Rosemary’s Baby vibes

Is James Bond an evil doctor? Probably

Pregnancy can be terrifying under the best of circumstances, which makes it doubly scary when there’s something otherworldly going on. That’s the hook of Hulu’s new horror movie, False Positive.

The trailer, which was released on Wednesday, finds a happy couple played by Ilana Glazer (Broad City) and Justin Theroux (The Leftovers) attempting to get pregnant with the help of their kindly and disarmingly handsome doctor, played by former James Bond, Pierce Brosnan. However, after an extremely creepy image pops up on the sonogram machine, Glazer’s character Lucy realizes that something is wrong and that her doctor isn’t who he says he is.

As with any unnerving horror movie about pregnancy, it’s hard not to compare False Positive’s trailer to Rosemary’s Baby. But it looks like False Positive will go a little further off the rails than the somewhat similar 1968 horror movie, especially since Lucy spends the second half of the trailer covered in blood and running around with a knife. Then again, Lucy’s husband in the film is named Adrian, which is a direct reference to that Rosemany’s tormenter in the movie, so it’s certainly not leaning away from the comparisons.

False Positive is directed by John Lee, whose previous work has mostly been on comedy shows, including Broad City. Lee and Glazer also cowrote the film’s script.

False Positive is set to premiere on Hulu on June 25.
