The Outer Worlds 2 announced during E3

Including a meta-commentary reveal video

The Outer Worlds, Obsidian Entertainment’s acclaimed role-playing game, is getting a sequel — The Outer Worlds 2. The game was revealed during Microsoft’s E3 2021 presentation on Sunday. The Outer Worlds 2 will come to Xbox Series X and Windows PC.

There wasn’t much to show from The Outer Worlds 2, save for a very cheeky meta-commentary action game trailer that included a very scary glowing monster — not in the game — and, of course, people running. Next, the trailer showed an “epic shot of a world,” with lens flares, followed by a silhouette of a hero — because the developer hasn’t finished the design, the narrator said.

According to the tongue-in-cheek trailer, the story isn’t finished, either, nor is gameplay ready to show. “The only thing they have finished ... is the title,” said the narrator. See the full trailer with meta-analysis embedded above.

“New solar system, new crew, same Outer Worlds. The Outer Worlds 2 is coming ... and when that day is closer, we will show you more ... but until then, enjoy this,” Obsidian said in its YouTube description.

The Outer Worlds was released in 2019, published by Private Division.
