Jujutsu Kaisen prequel movie teaser shows off its new main character

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 will follow a totally new character but include some familiar faces

MAPPA has revealed the first full teaser trailer for the upcoming Jujutsu Kaisen prequel movie. The movie will be called Jujutsu Kaisen 0, and it’s set to be released later this year.

This latest teaser is incredibly short, but gives us our best look yet at Yuta Okkotsu, the movie’s main character. The trailer features Okkotsu carrying a sword with some of the beautiful MAPPA animation that helped make the show a hit in its first season. Without giving too much away, the teaser hints at Okkotsu’s story and the young girl from his past that haunts him. The trailer also reveals that that Okkotsu will be voiced by Megumi Ogata (Neon Genesis Evangelion) in Japanese.

Along with Yuta Okkotsu, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 will also follow a few other characters that fans will recognize from the main series. More importantly, the story will likely delve into the backstory of Satoru Gojo, the series’ breakout star.

While there hasn’t been an announcement for a second season of the anime just yet, it’s likely that it could come after the movie is released. The show’s first season debuted in late 2020 and continued through the winter 2021 season. With the movie arriving in late 2021, that means the show’s second season could be ready sometime in 2022, but there are no guarantees until MAPPA makes an official announcement.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is set to be released on Dec. 24 in Japan, but there’s no word yet on an international release date.
