You can get a first look at an animated Captain Janeway’s motley crew of interstellar kids in the first trailer for Star Trek: Prodigy, revealed during the Paramount Plus panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2021.
Star Trek’s Captain Kathryn Janeway already spent nearly a decade of her life trapped decades of high-warp travel away from home in the Delta Quadrant, and now she’ll be going back — in hologram form, anyway. In Star Trek: Prodigy, a group of young aliens adventure across the Delta Quadrant in an abandoned Federation starship equipped with a very familiar-looking Emergency Training Hologram.
The cast of Star Trek: Prodigy includes Kate Mulgrew as that holographic Janeway, Brett Gray as Dal, Ella Purnell as Gwyn, Angus Imrie as Zero (a noncorporeal, genderless, energy-based life-form in a containment suit), Rylee Alazraqui as Rok-Tahk, Dee Bradley Baker as Murf (the goo blob), and Jason Mantzoukas as Jankom Pog.
An initial 10-episode season of the animated series will premiere on Paramount Plus this year, after which it will air on Nickelodeon before the second season is also released on Paramount Plus.
