Critical Role’s next published Dungeons & Dragons campaign book is getting the full Beadle & Grimm’s treatment. Three different deluxe boxed sets are up for pre-order starting today, and will include the contents of Tal’Dorei Campaign Setting Reborn plus a load of unique extras like battle maps, badges, and props for your at-home game.

Announced in July, Tal’Dorei Campaign Setting Reborn (Tal’Dorei) is an expanded new version of a book originally published in 2017 by Green Ronin and now out of print. Its action takes place two decades after the events of Critical Role’s Vox Machina campaign, and outlines how the world has changed in the lead up to Critical Role’s The Mighty Nein campaign. The final product will include story hooks to start your own campaigns, additional options for character creation, plenty of new magic items, creatures, and NPC stat blocks for each member of Vox Machina. It will be fully compatible with the 5th edition of D&D. It’s expected to be available in late 2021 or early 2022.

Beadle & Grimm’s is a publisher of officially licensed deluxe boxed sets, and works with partners such as Wizards of the Coast (D&D) and Paizo (Pathfinder). The Tal’Dorei boxed sets come in three different flavors, each with similar offerings.

The Arcane Tier goes for $249, and will include battle maps; in-world player handouts to share in-person with the party as the adventure unfolds; jewelry and coins, including metal pins and tokens; encounter cards, which provide graphics for players on one side and rules for the game master (GM) on the other; a GM’s screen with quick-reference information; and multiple bonus adventures only available through this campaign.

The Awakened Tier, which goes for $299, will also include a separate Map Vault with eight additional battle maps. Finally, for $349, the Exalted Tier will include all of the above plus four additional pieces of faction-related jewelry.

Polygon has had a chance to review several of Beadle & Grimm’s products in the past and, while the price is steep, the amount of care and creativity that goes into them is exceptional. But the real benefit is for GMs, whose life will be made much easier over the course of play thanks to thoughtful, useful aids and adaptations baked into the final product.

When will these boxed sets ship? Beadle & Grimm’s isn’t able to say at this time. While Tal’Dorei Campaign Setting Reborn is expected in late 2021 or early 2022, Beadle & Grimm’s deluxe versions will arrive as quickly “as global supply chains and goblin bloody-mindedness allow.”
