Rick and Morty’s fifth season is coming to a close, but fans will get an hour-long season finale on Sept. 5. In the teaser for the finale, the announcer asks, “Who is Rick without Morty?” teasing an answer to the question in next month’s episode.

The 30 second teaser features Morty filling Rick’s portal gun with the original portal gun fuel and lime soda. When the two argue, Morty shouts that Rick should finally just replace him. This prompt’s Morty’s grandfather to pull down a wheel he calls his “wheel of better things than Morty.” The options include Garbage Goober, Two Crows, Jerry (spin again), Sentient Shit, and more.

In 2018, Adult Swim renewed Rick and Morty for at least 70 more episodes. By the time the series is through — assuming it doesn’t get renewed again — it’ll have over 100 episodes. As season 5 will leave the show with just over 50, something tells us that Rick won’t spend much time as “Rick without Morty,” if any at all. In addition to more Rick and Morty seasons past this season 5 finale, Adult Swim also revealed a spinoff show featuring The Vindicators.
