Ash and Pikachu are heading deep into a mysterious forest for the latest Pokémon movie. Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle will premiere on Netflix on Oct. 8, and the streaming service teamed up with The Pokémon Company to release a new trailer on Tuesday.
Secrets of the Jungle follows Ash Ketchum, as he and Pikachu explore the forest of Okoya and discover Koko, a boy who has been raised by Dada Zarude, a unique version of the Mythical Pokémon. Koko believes that he is a Pokémon, but Ash’s sudden arrival seems to have him questioning that.
Meanwhile, Doctor Zed and his Biotope Company — along with a disguised Team Rocket — want to destroy the Okoya forest in order to harness the healing powers of its secret spring. But Ash, Pikachu, Zarude, Koko, and an army of Jungle Pokémon are ready to stop Biotope from tearing it down.
Secrets of the Jungle follows an alternate Pokémon movie canon and is a sequel to I Choose You! and The Power of Us, but it isn’t connected to earlier movies in the series. Pokémon Sword and Shield players can also get a little more connected with the movie by getting their in-game Dada Zarude and Shiny Celebi through the Pokémon Trainer Club newsletter.
Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle is the 23rd Pokémon movie and was released in Dec. 2020 in Japan. The movie’s Netflix premiere is also its international debut.
