Folks, Ted Lasso has won THE Emmy.
Season 1 of the Apple TV Plus series won the award for Outstanding Comedy Series, beating out other titles like Emily in Paris, Cobra Kai, and Black-ish. The critically acclaimed series was up for 20 Emmy awards, including Best Actor in a Comedy Series for Jason Sudeikis. Not too surprisingly, Sudeikis picked up that award, following on his Golden Globe win earlier this year. His costars Hannah Waddingham and Brett Goldstein also picked up awards early in the night.
Winning is fun, but if you find a family along the way, you can’t lose.

Ted Lasso follows the titular American football coach (played by Jason Sudeikis) who is unexpectedly recruited to coach an English soccer team, despite not having the proper experience. Thankfully Ted is so damn endearing that he wins over his colleagues, and uplifts his team of underdogs — even in the face of defeat. The show premiered on Apple TV Plus in October 2020, with the second season hitting the streaming service in July 2021. Hannah Waddingham, Jeremy Swift, and Phil Dunster also star.
Season 2 of Ted Lasso is currently streaming on Apple TV Plus. Here’s a look at all the other winners of the night.
