Tiger King season 2 hits Netflix in November

Carole Baskin won’t be returning

Netflix has revealed the return date for a new season of Tiger King, which brings back Joe Exotic but definitely not Carole Baskin. Netflix announced the date for season 2 during its 2021 Tudum streaming event on Saturday.

One person who will be absent from the show’s new season is Carole Baskin ... which isn’t too surprising. Aside from highlighting her feud with Exotic, the show also helped spawn a meme that she was a murderer, turning her into an overnight pop cultural touchstone in a way that she doesn’t seem to have loved. When rumblings of a second season for the show first cropped up in early 2021 Baskin immediately made it clear she wouldn’t be returning. She issued a statement through Cargo Films, the company behind The Conservation Game, shortly after Netflix’s announcement.

“I don’t know how they put out a Tiger King 2 when Joe Schreibvogel’s in jail and I’m refusing to be played again,” Baskin said. “Rebecca Chaiklin (director of Tiger King) said she wanted to “clear the air” about what they did to me in Tiger King. I told her to lose my number. There is no explanation for such a betrayal and false portrayal.”

Tiger King will return to Netflix on Nov. 17 and will feature another seven-episode season, just like the original.
