PlayStation Plus subscribers will get free access to three games in October: Mortal Kombat X and PGA Tour 2K21 for PlayStation 4, and World War II multiplayer shooter Hell Let Loose, making its console debut on PlayStation 5. All three games are available for download via PS Plus Starting Oct. 5.
Hell Let Loose launched in early access in June 2019, and saw a full release for Windows PC in July. It launches on both PS5 and Xbox Series X on the same day. In Hell Let Loose, players shoot it out in matches of up to 50 per side. Each side (Germans vs. Americans or Soviets) has smaller rifle teams of six, armor squads of three, or recon groups of two.
Hell Let Loose is unique for its commander role, in which a single officer leads either side and communicates with other officers through a dedicated voice channel. There’s also a strategy layer inspired by RTS games, through which the commander orders air strikes and manages the resource nodes that other players in the game build and maintain.
PGA Tour 2K21 launched last summer, and in our view it’s the strongest edition of HB Studios’ golfing series to date. There’s a very robust single-player career mode, and plenty of rotating playlists in the online multiplayer suite.
Mortal Kombat X needs practically no introduction, although we will point out this game launched in 2015 (since succeeded by 2019’s Mortal Kombat 11) and it’s already a part of the PlayStation Plus Collection, a catalog of 20 games given to anyone who buys a PlayStation 5.
PlayStation Plus subscribers can still download September’s games — Hitman 2 and Predator: Hunting Grounds for the PlayStation 4, and Overcooked! All You Can Eat for PlayStation 5, through Oct. 4.
October’s PS Plus games will be available through Nov. 1.
