A first look at The CW’s Naomi debuts at DC FanDome

Based on the DC comic from Brian Michael Bendis, David Walker and Jamal Campbell

The cast and crew of Naomi, produced by Ava Duvernay, made an appearance at DC FanDome on Saturday to introduce a first look at the latest addition to The CW’s Arrowverse.

Star Kaci Walfall was on hand to introduce the young superheroine in action. “I”m really excited for people to see this character that is so special to them within the comics, on TV. [...] there’s a lot of room to grow for the character within the story” because she has such a short history in DC Comics.

Naomi will follow the adventures of its eponymous protagonist, young adopted girl who becomes obsessed with Superman after he makes a brief visit to her town. In learning of his humble origins as an adoptee, she decides to seek out the truth of her own birth, and discovers something pretty out of this world.

The sneak peek footage from the series, which you can watch above, shows that fateful moment when Naomi catches a glimpse of Superman for the first time.

Naomi has had one of DC’s shortest roads from comic to screen. The series is based on the 2019 comic book series of the same name, written by Brian Michael Bendis (Spider-Man) and David F. Walker (Bitter Root), and drawn by Jamal Campbell (Far Sector). Naomi will premiere on The CW in 2022.
