But I’m into it, I’m kind of into it

There are many potential paths for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to take, but its Celestial overseers are interested in one direction in particular: Harry Styles.

[Ed. note: This post contains potential spoilers for upcoming Marvel movies]

According to reports from the Eternals premiere on Monday night, the pop star and actor makes his appearance in one of the film’s after-credits scenes. It’s his second major role, following Dunkirk (which he co-starred in alongside Eternals actor Barry Keoghan) and just before next year’s thriller Don’t Worry Darling from Booksmart director Olivia Wilde.

Styles will play Eros, an Eternal and the brother of Thanos. Created by Jim Starlin and Mike Friedrich in 1973, Eros, like his brother, was born on Titan and is a being of immense strength, but with the added power to manipulate the emotions of others. He doesn’t always use this power altruistically — like his name implies, Eros is extremely invested in being a horndog, sometimes to a troubling degree.

Other times, however — usually when his evil brother is involved — Eros acts as a cosmic superhero, adopting the codename Starfox (no relation) and flying off to battle.

Currently, there aren’t any real details about when Styles’ take on Eros will get his first proper showing as his appearance in Eternals is reportedly limited to a post-credits scene. An educated guess would be Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but anything’s possible with the intensely secretive studio.

Eternals premieres in theaters on Nov. 5, 2021.
