The Wheel of Time’s first season is almost here and Polygon has an exclusive look at the show’s latest poster, which focuses on al’Lan Mandragoran. al’Lan, better known as Lan, is played by Big Hero 6’s Daniel Henney.
Lan is the last surviving member of the royal line of the fallen Malkier kingdom. He starts the series as the Warder (kind of like a bodyguard) of Moiraine Damodred (Rosemund Pike) and accompanies her to the village of Emond’s Field, where the story really gets going. But as The Wheel of Time progresses, Lan grows into one of the series most exciting and important characters.
Lan is also an important character in The Wheel of Time’s prologue novel New Spring, but it’s not clear if that book will be part of the Amazon series or not. New Spring tells, among other things, the story of how Moiraine and Lan met, which means it could also just show up in flashbacks or dialog from the two characters.

The Wheel of Time is based on the 14-book fantasy series of the same name. The monumental task of turning these books into a T.V. series is being led by showrunner and executive producer Rafe Judkins.
The series’ eight-episode first season will begin on Nov. 19 when Amazon will release the first three. All of the episodes of The Wheel of Time will be streamable on Amazon Prime Video and will be free for subscribers.
