The Hunger Games is back with a new prequel, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, that arguably outdoes the originals. But if you’ve already caught the movie in theaters and are wondering when you can jump back to Panem to relive the early years of Coriolanus Snow, you might be curious about when the movie is coming to streaming.

Unfortunately, Lionsgate hasn’t made any announcements just yet, but we do know where the movie will be streaming, and we have a few clues that give us a good guess as to when you’ll be able to watch the movie at home.

When and where will The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes be streaming?

The new Hunger Games prequel will stream first on Starz for those with a subscription to the service. The movie will later come to Peacock, thanks to distributor Lionsgate’s agreement with the NBC Universal streaming platform.

When the movie will arrive is a slightly more complicated question to answer. Previous movies from Lionsgate like John Wick 4 have generally taken about six months to reach Starz, where they tend to stay for quite a while. As for when Songbirds & Snakes could reach Peacock, that could happen up to almost a year after its release, though we won’t know for sure until we get an official announcement from Lionsgate.

Of course, if you want to watch the movie even earlier, you can always rent it on VOD, which should arrive before even the Starz streaming date.

Where can I stream the original Hunger Games movies in the meantime?

You can stream all four Hunger Games movies on Peacock until the end of November. The Hunger Games movies are often only available on Peacock intermittently, depending on what month it is, but for now, that’s where they are.

Should I read The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes?

You should! Even if you’ve already seen the movie in theaters, the book will give you a somewhat different perspective on events, and it has a little bit more time for world-building than the movie does.
