“Wapeach” is real. Or at least she was at one point, according to the creator of Waluigi, Fumihide Aoki, who on Friday revealed the first semi-official look at Wapeach, an evil version of Princess Peach that was designed for 2004’s Mario Power Tennis.

Aoki rocked the Waluigi fandom by posting early sketches of Wapeach — also known as Warupeachi — on his Instagram account. He quickly followed those images up with what appears to be the bad Princess Peach’s 3D model created for the GameCube Mario Tennis game.

Aoki’s sketch, posted only with the hashtag #characterdesign, shows a Princess Peach-like woman wearing a crown and what appears to be a leather or latex dress. She’s wearing a spiked armband, the kind that Bowser and Bowser Jr. (and Bowsette) wear, and holding a tennis racket. In one sketch she’s holding an ax! The words Purichi (プリチ) and Warupeachi (ワルピーチ) are used to label the sketch.

The 3D model of Wapeach shows that her outfit was purple, similar to Wario and Waluigi’s color schemes.

In Instagram comments, Aoki said that Wapeach/Warupeachi was conceived in name only during the development of Mario Tennis for Nintendo 64. Her design was later sketched out during the development of Mario Power Tennis, which was created by Nintendo and Camelot. But Wapeach has never appeared in any Mario sports game, many of which Aoki has worked on.

Camelot president Hiroyuki Takahashi addressed the concept of a bad versions of Princess Peach and Princess Daisy in 2000 interview with Nintendo Power, saying, “We asked Nintendo about girlfriends for Wario and Luigi, but Mr. Miyamoto said that he didn’t even want to see their girlfriends.”

But does Miyamoto want a bad Toad? Please say yes.
