Broken Age watercolor portraits

Tim Schafer, head of developer Double Fine Productions, has referred to his company as a "creativity factory," making it a natural fit for the first stop on this tour.

To promote Broken Age, Double Fine’s much-discussed Kickstarter poster child adventure game, Double Fine submitted a series of watercolor paintings done by the game’s lead artist, Nathan 'Bagel' Stapley. He’s doing 116 in total as rewards for some of the Kickstarter campaign’s high end backers, 18 of which you can see below (including Tomb Raider Writer Rhianna Pratchett).

"Backers sent over photos and a few comments about themselves to start," says Stapley. "Then I [have been doing] a few quick small sketches of the subject on some scrap paper to get comfortable with all the features and where they go. After that I'll draw the head lightly on watercolor paper and paint on top of it."

Broken Age Part 2 is available this week on PC, PlayStation 4, Vita, Mac, Linux, Ouya, iOS and Android. Check out our review here.
