On Oct. 31, Animal Crossing: New Horizons hosts its very own Halloween event in-game.
From 5 p.m. until midnight, players can dress up in costumes to get Candy from their villagers, as well as hand out Candy to villagers for sweet seasonal rewards.
Jack, the self-proclaimed Czar of Halloween, will be found around your island’s Resident Services and he’ll help you kick off the event.
How to get Candy
There are multiple ways to get Candy. Throughout October, each character on an island can buy one Candy per day from Nook’s Cranny.
If Halloween has come around and you need more Candy, you can put on a Halloween costume and get it from your villagers inside their houses. Note that the villagers running around outside will ask for Candy, but the villagers inside will give it out.
How to get exclusive Halloween DIY recipes and items

Villagers will randomly give DIY recipes, along with Lollipops, and Halloween-themed furnishings, in exchange for Candy. As you walk around your island, you’ll see dressed-up villagers running up to you to get Candy. As long as you fork some over, you’ll get rewards.
Giving Candy to your villagers is the only way to get the recipes for the Spooky Garland and Spooky Table Setting. It’s also the only way to get the Spooky Wall, Spooky Flooring, and Spooky Rug furnishing items.
Note that what you get from your villagers is random, so it may take several tries to get what you need.
The DIY recipes for the Spooky Wand and the Spooky Carriage can only be obtained from giving Lollipops to Jack.
How to get Halloween reactions
There are two Halloween reactions you can grab. You get the first one, Haunt, from giving Candy to Jack. You get the second one, Scare, by giving Candy to one of your villagers.
