Animal Crossing: New Horizons received its update 2.0.1 on Nov. 11, 2021. The Animal Crossing 2.0.1 update resolves several issues in the base game as well as the Happy Home Paradise DLC.

This Animal Crossing 2.0.1 guide will go over all the changes in the latest version of the game. We’ll break down the key difference in this update as well as explore what bug fixes and issues we’ve discovered in the game’s patch notes.

Animal Crossing update 2.0.1 changes

The Animal Crossing: New Horizons update 2.0.1 fixes some minor issues in the base game and the Happy Home Paradise DLC. There aren’t any major changes in this update, but a handful of issues have been resolved that will make your time on your island much better.

One of the biggest updates is a fix to a previous issue that occurred when players tried to remodel a resident’s home when the airport gate was open. Prior to Animal Crossing update 2.0.1, players would need to restart their game and force an update to resolve any issues. This new update should no longer cause issues if you recreate this sequence of events.

The Animal Crossing 2.0.1 update also fixes some other minor issues regarding certain items, DIY recipes, and weird resident behaviors that caused them to try to cook non-food items or talk like they are in the cafe when you visit them at home.

The Animal Crossing: New Horizons update 2.01. also fixes a major issue with the Happy Home Paradise DLC. Previously an issue occurred where players could proceed with the DLC’s progression without remodeling the school, which is an important milestone that unlocks new items. The new update allows players to put the DLC’s progression back on track, whether or not the school has been remodeled yet.

To fix your save data, follow Nintendo’s own recommendations:

For Players that have not remodeled the school: After completing 1 or 2 other jobs, and no other events trigger at that time, the event to design the school will trigger.

For players that have remodeled the school: The event for designing the school will not trigger, but the features that normally unlock from the event to design the school (such as furniture items and room size) will become useable when you start your next job.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0.1 also fixes some other minor issues in the Happy Home Designer DLC, including one that allowed players to receive infinite turnips from Joan.
