As a Freelancer in Anthem, you’ll be working to protect your fellow citizens in Fort Tarsis, where several factions hand out quests. If you gain enough reputation with each, you’ll unlock blueprints to craft consumables, components, and more (after you reach level 10). Helping factions will even change the appearance of the hub world.
Anthem’s three main factions are the Freelancers, the Arcanists, and the Sentinels. Is leveling them up worth the effort? At first, not so much. Consumables and components won’t feel vital to your success in the early game, especially as the first tier of rewards are all uncommon rarity.
Eventually, the rewards will stand out and make a difference. As you grow your loyalty with each faction, physical changes occur around the hub world, which is a good visual treat since you spend so much time wandering around it.
In this guide, we’ll teach you about Anthem’s factions and the rewards you get for increasing your reputation with each.

Unsurprisingly, the first faction you begin working for is your own: the Freelancers. You’ll earn loyalty points when completing associated contracts and discovering new areas in the game. Gain enough of them, and you’ll unlock the first level with the Freelancers.
Here’s what you get for increasing your loyalty with the Freelancers by level:
- Uncommon universal component blueprints
- Rare universal component blueprints
- Epic universal component blueprints
Increasing your level with the Freelancers will also change the hub world. You’ll unlock new amplifiers for your cypher friends and make some changes to Fort Tarsis that help the Freelancers relive their glory days.
Arcanists faction rewards

There’s a lot going on in the world of Anthem, and the Arcanists dedicate themselves to figuring it out. In their pursuit of knowledge, they tend to find themselves in sticky situations, so expect to take part in a handful of search and rescue missions for the Arcanists. When you’re not saving lives, you may have to recover dangerous artifacts for them.
Here’s what you get for increasing your loyalty with the Arcanists by level:
- Uncommon universal sigil blueprints
- Rare universal sigil blueprints
- Epic universal sigil blueprints
Boosting your loyalty with the Arcanists eventually unlocks a secret store. Giving the Arcanists your support will also help them continue their efforts to provide clean water for everyone in Fort Tarsis.

The Freelancers aren’t the only ones holding things down in Fort Tarsis. Protecting the city alongside you are the Sentinels. They seem to garner a bit more respect than Freelancers, so trying to win their loyalty might seem like an uphill battle.
Here’s what you get for increasing your loyalty with the Sentinels by level:
- Uncommon universal iconic component blueprints
- Rare universal iconic component blueprints
- Epic universal iconic component blueprints
As you earn the respect of the Sentinels, you’ll unlock a larger storage area near the Forge. The faction will also spruce up Fort Tarsis with artwork.
Anthem’s fourth faction?
There may be a fourth faction you can get once you’ve done all the hard work of getting each of the above factions up to level three. Doing so will take a while, and even after pouring dozens of hours into the game, we haven’t reached that level yet. Once we’ve unlocked that faction (assuming it exists), we’ll update this guide.
