Mirage is a powerful character with a versatile kit. You can use his abilities to misdirect enemies with decoys. Here are some important tips to maximize Mirage’s potential.
Passive: Encore
Mirage drops a decoy and turns invisible when he goes down.
This is a weak passive ability, requiring that you die to make use of it. It can grant a small advantage though. While invisible, crawl back into cover as quickly as you can.
You’ll be cloaked but that doesn’t mean you’re impossible to see. Don’t make any obvious movements (like opening doors). Stay safe by dropping off a ledge and out of the action.
Tactical Ability: Psyche Out
Mirage sends out a decoy of himself, which runs forward to a target location.
Mirage’s decoys are stupid. To get the most value for your decoy, aim into the sky before activating. The decoy will run until it expires or is shot. Make sure there’s nothing in its path as it will get stuck, ruining the illusion.
The goal of every decoy is to get enemies to shoot at it. Enemies who shoot the decoys are automatically revealed with a ping. Use this to set up an ambush or scout out a hidden corner. To keep the decoys looking more lifelike, try crouching and then using a decoy.
Ultimate Ability: Vanishing Act
Mirage cloaks himself and spawns a group of decoys around him.
Use this ultimate to create as much chaos as possible. While it can be used to escape a firefight, consider saving it to confuse enemies and push the advantage.
You will still be partially visible while cloaked. If you’re trying to escape or flank, you’ll want to break line of sight as soon as possible. You may also want to crouch, in case the enemy starts firing where they last spotted you.
Mirage is all about a duck and weave style of gameplay. He is an agent of chaos, bombarding your enemies with false information. Once you master him, even the best players will second guess what’s real and what isn’t.
