Druid Grove is full of people to talk to and quests to pick up. In this Baldur’s Gate 3 guide, we’ll walk you through exploring the Secluded Cove and completing the “Investigate the beach” quest.
We’ll help you find the Secluded Cove, meet Mirkon, fight the Harpies, find a Ring of Color Spray, discover the Tiefling Hideout in Druid Grove, and pick up a new quest, all while completing “Investigate the beach.”
Investigate the beach
Investigate the music
Just past the guards inside the Sacred Pool area of Druid Grove, take an immediate left (to the east) and pass through the opening there. Follow the path left until you hear singing. That will add the “Investigate the beach” quest to your Journal with an “Investigate the music” objective.
Help the child
Follow the path until you spot a tiefling child down by the water and get the “Help the child” objective. Talk to Mirkon.
A successful (passive) Nature check will reveal that the music is coming from Harpies. A fight will start shortly after. Defeat all four of the Harpies to save Mirkon.
Defeat the Harpies

Four level 3 Harpies make for a pretty tough fight. They have an AC of 13 (meaning you have to roll higher than a 12 on a 20-sided die to hit) and a healthy 24 HP.
The environment doesn’t help here either. The Harpies begin above you, and you’ll be in a canyon, so they’ll have the high ground.
- Early in the fight, Move your melee fighters toward the rocky outcropping where the Harpies start. If they can, have them Jump across the water to avoid slowing down and wasting movement. Jumping is also helpful for climbing the outcropping quickly.
- Move your magic users and ranged fighters up onto the sides of the canyon. This removes the Disadvantage from having the low ground, and it opens up the fight a bit.
- The Harpies tend to approach along the right (south) side of the canyon, and then retreat to the outcropping in the east when they’re treatened. Having your melee fighters on the outcropping means they can press the attack when the Harpies retreat.
When the fight is over, have a conversation with Mirkon. He’ll tell you to look for Doni in Druid Grove, and to tell him you want to see the “Dragon’s Lair.”
Find the Ring of Color Spray

Before you leave the Secluded Cove, pick someone with a good Jump ability and head back to the beach. Walk east around the far side of the Harpies’ rock. You’ll find a Wooden Chest along the water. Turn South and follow the path — Jumping where necessary — to the end to find the Harpy Nest.

Inside, you’ll find a Ring of Color Spray that lets you cast Color Spray at Level 1 as an action. Color Spray blinds 33 HP worth of creatures (either one creature with 33 or fewer HP, or multiple creatures with a combined total of 33 or fewer HP).
Find Doni
Head back to the Sacred Pool and start retracing your steps toward the Makeshift Prison in The Hollow. Doni will be marked on your minimap — he’s the third tiefling child along the path.
Ask him about the Dragon’s Lair, and he’ll show you a secret door: the Concealed Hatch.
Find Mol
Through the Concealed Hatch, you’ll enter the Tiefling Hideout. Head down to the bottom of the cave to find Mol. During the conversation, Mol will give you a quest to “Steal the Sacred Idol” and halt the druid ceremony.
Talking to Mol will complete the “Investigate the Beach” quest.
The Tiefling Hideout has two exits — they both lead back to the path heading toward the Sacred Pool.
