Bloodstained guide: Dark Matter

How to find and prepare Dark Matter

Dark Matter is a crafting material and prepared meal in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. You’ll spend a lot of time crafting items, weapons, and armor out of crafting materials from enemy drops and chests scattered throughout the world. Some materials are more elusive than others, though.

Dark Matter is required to build a very strong weapon and to enhance several late-game Shards. It’s pretty hard to find, though. This guide will walk you through finding and preparing Dark Matter, and explain what you can do with it.

Enemies that drop Dark Matter

The Dark Elementals in the Secret Sorcery Lab will drop Dark Matter, but very rarely. This is the only place where you can find this enemy, though, and the drop is exceedingly rare, so it makes more sense to just make your own Dark Matter.

Instead of hoping for a drop, it’s (arguably) easier to prepare Dark Matter with Johannes in Arvantville. Dark Matter requires four ingredients:

Increasing drop rates

There’s only a small chance that any given enemy will drop what you want, so if you’re farming for specific items, increase your Luck stat. Put on any gear that gives you a luck boost, and your enemies will be more likely to drop items.

Crafting and enhancing Shards with Dark Matter

Dark Matter is required for the Dainsleif, a very powerful sword. It’s also required to enhance the Acid Jet, Fald Ciu, Fald Taiab, Petra Breath, Resist Darkness, and Void Ray Shards.
