Typhon Dead Drops are the most complicated challenges in Borderlands 3.

The chests are locked weapons caches filled with guns. Just like every other challenge, they’re marked on the map when you discover them, but unlike everything else, you’ll need to complete a few prerequisites before you can open them. Thankfully, everything you need to unlock each of Typhon Dead Drops is also marked on the map in the form of other challenges.

Alongside his drops, Typhon also left as series of messages hidden around each of the areas you visit in Borderlands 3. To unlock an area’s Dead Drop, you’ll need to find every Typhon log in an area. The number of logs differs from area to area, but there are almost always a few. To activate these, all you need to do is find them in the environment and press the use button when you’re in front of them.

Once you’ve activated all of the logs in an area, the Dead Drop will unlock and you’ll be able to collect the weapons inside.

It’s important to note that, when you open a Dead Drop, the contents inside will be at or just above your current level. That means if you open up a cache early on in the game, you won’t be able to reopen it later when you’re at a higher level. If you don’t want to wait until you reach max level to open any of the Dead Drops, you can probably complete the challenges to unlock them again in the True Vault Hunter difficulty.
