Call of Duty: Warzone season 1 has barely been out for a day, and there’s already been a game-breaking glitch. Shortly after the season was released, players found a way to go invisible using the newly added attack helicopters. But after hours of games being ruined, Raven Software announced Thursday that it has removed the new aircraft from the game until further notice, which should curb the bug and its abusers.
!PSA! The attack helicopter has been temporarily removed from both #Warzone maps - Verdansk and Rebirth Island. The vehicle will return once the related issues have been fixed. The normal helicopter will remain available.— Raven Software (@RavenSoftware) December 17, 2020
The bug itself wasn’t even terribly complicated to pull off. All you had to do was be in the attack helicopter’s minigun seat while it crashed, get downed, then get revived or revive yourself. After the downed player was revived, they’d be invisible and almost invincible — basically giving them a free win.
While this bug wreaked havoc on Warzone for the first day of season 1, it’s good that Raven decided to just take the offending piece of equipment out of the game rather than going for a slower, more elegant solution. Of course, one problem is that we have no idea how long it might be until the attack helicopter returns, but that’s better than having to deal with players actively ruining games.
Now that the attack helicopter is gone, hopefully players can get back to exploring Warzone season 1’s changes and new maps without fear of an invisible enemy sneaking up on them at any moment.
