The new season also brings back the Gulag

Call of Duty: Warzone season 6 is here, and the new patch brings a few big changes to the game ahead of its Call of Duty: Vanguard update. The season 6 patch brings back Warzone’s iconic Gulag, adds a few new points of interest to Verdansk, and includes some balance changes as well.

Season 6 will be the last time Warzone players play on Verdansk, according to developer Raven Software. To send the map off in style, Raven is bringing back the classic Gulag, where players can face off in duels for a chance to return to the action. While the area is mostly the same, Raven did add a few updates to keep the arena fresh.

Also getting a few updates in season 6 is Verdansk itself, which has been destroyed ... again. Some of the new points of interest around the map include newly destroyed versions of certain cities, and massive fissures that have opened up in the landscape.

Among the other, slightly smaller, changes in this patch, Raven also adjusted balance for a few assault rifles and light machine guns. The C58 and EM2 rifles both got nerfed slightly with increased recoil, while the MG82 and light machine gun alpha also got similar nerfs to recoil and a few other details, which should make controlling their fire a little harder.

Warzone’s next major seasonal update will likely come sometime near the end of 2021 or the beginning of 2022, and is expected to tie the game into Call of Duty: Vanguard. While we don’t know exactly what that will mean yet, we know there’s a new map coming, along with a newly improved anti-cheat system, and probably the integration of Vanguard’s entire weapons arsenal.
