DC Bombshells imagines a world in which Batwoman, Wonder Woman and Supergirl were all on the front lines of World War II in one way or another. And if that doesn't wet your whistle, in #5 Supergirl appears to be fighting a group of all-female Russian bomber pilots who engaged in night missions against German troops. They were so effective and scary, the Germans nicknamed them Nachthexen: the Night Witches.

Based on the popular DC Bombshells line of variant covers, the DC Bombshells comics are published digitally first, and collected every few issues in print editions. The digital edition of issue #5 will hit Comixology on Aug. 22.

Here's the official summary:

Her secret revealed to her squadron leader, Kara (Supergirl) is taken before General Arkayn to have her fate decided. The life of her sister Kortni (Stargirl) hangs in the balance.
