DC Comics celebrates classic covers from five whole years ago

We know that something will be going down this June at DC Comics. For one thing, that's when the company usually begins its big crossover event of the summer. For another, cryptic tweets from the company's co-publishers have the internet buzzing over whether or not DC Comics will be going full reboot this spring, less than five years after the dawn of the New 52.

Whether or not we're seeing the end of the New 52 as we know it, DC has announced that the controversial reboot will be getting a nice little homage in the form of 11 variant covers in May.

May 2016 is the month that every title that launched at the start of the New 52 will hit its 52nd issue. Of those initial 52, only 11 have made it to this milestone, and DC will be adorning those comics with variant covers that give another artist a crack at the cover of the title's first issue. Check out the new covers below (sans text) followed by their originals.
