Weird names, strange costumes, paramilitary organizations and your childhood — you wouldn't necessarily put G.I. Joe and Street Fighter together for a crossover, but that's exactly what IDW will be doing next week.
Street Fighter X G.I. Joe is a six-issue miniseries, the first issue of which will hit shelves on Wednesday, Feb. 24. Written by Aubrey Sitterson (Hulk, Superman) and drawn by Emilio Laiso (Hack/Slash: Son of Samhain), here's the story that could bring these two bombastic franchises together for a single tale:
On a hidden island in international waters, 16 combatants enter a secret tournament… one that pits Street Fighter vs. G.I. JOE! M. Bison and Destro have joined forces, and taking them down will require the world’s finest warriors: Ryu, Snake Eyes, Guile, Scarlett, Chun-Li and Duke.
Courtesy of IDW, Polygon can reveal Street Fighter X G.I. Joe #4's never-before-seen cover, by veteran artist Phil Jimenez (Wonder Woman, Infinite Crisis) ...
... and the issue's variant cover from Nelson Daniel (Judge Dredd, Road Rage).
Here's the official synopsis for Street Fighter X G.I. Joe #4:
The World Warrior Tournament enters the finals, and M. Bison will stop at nothing to be the last one standing! Can the Street Fighters and G.I. JOE stop the Shadaloo dictator before he takes the top spot?
