Announced in March, Horizon Zero Dawn — a comic book based on the PlayStation exclusive game of the same name — will see its first issue hit shelves on Aug. 5. Delayed slightly due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Titan Comics’ Horizon Zero Dawn was co-created by Anne Toole, a writer on Horizon Zero Dawn, with art from Ann Maulina, and variant covers from Stanley Lau, Peach Momoko, and Loish.

Courtesy of Titan Comics, Polygon has four exclusive pages from Horizon Zero Dawn #1, all of which capture the awe and wonder of the game.

While Horizon Zero Dawn, the video game, follows Aloy, the comic book is centered on Talanah Khane Padish, Sunhawk of the Hunters Lodge in Meridian — a character who Aloy can befriend in the game. The comic takes place after the video game ends, when Aloy “disappears” and Talanah must take on a “mysterious threat.”

Here’s the full synopsis:

Titan’s new Horizon Zero Dawn comic book series — co-created by Anne Toole, one of the writers of Horizon Zero Dawn, with artwork by fan-favorite artist Ann Maulina — takes place after the events of the game as Talanah, a strong and determined hunter, struggles to find purpose after her trusted friend Aloy disappears. When a mysterious threat emerges in the wilds, she sets out to hunt and to defeat it, only to learn that a whole new breed of killer machines stalk the land!

You can see part of that adventure below.
