Northern Undead Asylum serves as your introduction to the world of Dark Souls Remastered. It’s a relatively straight path through the Asylum, so you won’t have to worry (much) about getting lost. Most classes (except for Deprived) will find their class weapons and a shield here. This is also where you’ll find your indispensable Estus Flask.
There are two bonfires in the Undead Asylum. They’re both pretty close together, but there’s a giant Asylum Demon between them. That Demon teaches you a lot about Dark Souls Remastered. First, if you just rush in and try to attack it without a plan, it’ll mash you into a fine paste. Instead, you can learn to run away and plan your attacks more carefully — and this is where you’ll learn to always look for a way to get the drop on your enemies. In this case, literally. If you’re careful (or lucky), your second encounter with the Asylum Demon will be over pretty quickly.
After that, it’s time to leave the Asylum and face a much more dangerous world.
