Black Friday is almost always the best time to make a major electronics purchase. Many people wait all year to make upgrades to their homes and entertainment centers, hoping for a big discount when November comes around. But those waiting for a good deal on TCL’s excellent 6-Series 4K TV may have been disappointed by Black Friday 2018’s offerings. The cult favorite display was only discounted by around $30.

But now, in 2019, the TCL 6-Series is getting a big discount. Billing it as a Super Bowl sale, TCL is dropping the 65-inch model to its lowest price ever.

The TCL 6-series (R617/615) comes highly recommended by Wirecutter, CNET, and The Verge, and is Polygon’s pick for the best 4K TV under $1,000. The 2160p, low-latency display “outperforms just about every other TV in its price range, and a number of TVs well beyond it,” Arthur Gies wrote in our review. The TV also has the Roku streaming platform built in, offering apps for all major streaming services like Hulu, Netflix, YouTube, and Amazon Prime Video.

The only difference between the R615 (a Best Buy exclusive) and the R617 is the quality of the remote. Best Buy’s R615 model comes with an old-school IR remote, and is therefore a bit cheaper. The R617’s remote has voice control functionality and doesn’t require line of sight. The TV itself is exactly the same for both models.

TCL is dropping the 65-inch R617 model to $849.99 at all major retailers including Amazon, Walmart, and Target. That’s an all-time-low price on this excellent 4K TV.

Best Buy is matching Cyber Monday pricing on the TCL R615, bringing it back down to $799.99.

If you’re willing to spend a little more on top-of-the-line visuals, LG’s OLED TVs are known for “enhanced black levels and virtually infinite contrast.” The 55-inch version of the entry-level B8 model is currently on sale for $1,496.99, about $200 cheaper than it was on Black Friday.

The discount on the LG 55-inch B8 TV is is available at most major retailers, including Amazon, but B&H is sweetening the deal by throwing in a $145 gift card with purchase.
