The Year of the Pig kicks off on Feb. 5 and, as in years past, Steam is celebrating the Lunar New Year with a themed sale on “thousands of games.” Unlike previous years, however, Steam is offering an extra $5 off your first order of $30 or more on top of the discounted games.
The landing page for Steam’s sale, which features an adorable graphic of pigs celebrating the Lunar New Year, highlights discounts of up to 85 percent on popular PC games like Dark Souls 3, Tekken 7, and Overcooked 2. Steam is also spotlighting games by Chinese developers and local co-op games. (I highly suggest checking out some of those co-op games as a Valentine’s Day activity.)
Throughout the sale, which ends on Feb. 11, Steam customers can earn tokens that are redeemable for profile upgrades and extra $5-off coupons.
A few other retailers are getting in on the action as well with Lunar New Year sales of their own. Digital marketplaces Green Man Gaming and Fanatical are both discounting a bunch of PC games to celebrate the Year of the Pig. Like Steam, Fanatical is offering a blanket discount on top of the already discounted games, taking an extra 8 percent off orders with code LUNAR8. Unlike Steam though, the blanket discount only applies to games featured in the sale.
Alternatively, Green Man Gaming is running one-day-only flash deals throughout its Lunar New Year sale. Today’s 24-hour deal drops Assassin’s Creed Odyssey down to $25.20.
Finally, Ubisoft’s online store is taking up to 90 percent off games in some of its iconic franchises like Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry. Ubisoft is also offering a free download of the Assassin’s Creed spinoff, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China.
