Wizards of the Coast

Last week, Polygon Deals launched a new mid-week column that will focus on the best of the best in gaming deals, rather than a long list of every sale around the internet like we do on Saturday. Like the weekend column, the deals are separated by category, but this time, we’re highlighting only the very best deals in each section.

We’re continuing this week with many of the same staple categories; TVs, games, and accessories will probably always be included. This week we’re adding a tabletop gaming category, kicking off with half off the Dungeons and Dragons Starter Set.

As always, if there’s a category you’d like to see next week, let me know in the comments or on Twitter @PolygonDeals.

Best TV deal: LG 55-inch C8 OLED TV

Most of the Super Bowl deals on 4K TVs ended with the big game, but some of LG’s high-end OLED TVs are still on sale. OLED offers incredible picture quality with infinite contrast and pixel-level dimming. Basically, that translates to the blackest blacks and brightest colors currently available in a TV. Those features are typically very costly, but if you’re willing to shell out for a best-of-the-best display, you can save $700 off a 55-inch LG C8 TV right now. Usually $2,500 (though recently brought down to $2,199.99), the TV is on sale for $1,799.99.

Best game deal: Resident Evil 2

Our exclusive discount code, ZOMBIE25, is still valid at PC digital download retailer Fanatical. That code will bring the standard edition of Resident Evil 2 down to $44.99 (usually $59.99) and the Deluxe Edition to $52.49. The discount also applies to other games in the Resident Evil franchise, like the extremely terrifying Resident Evil 7.

Resident Evil 2 is “everything a video game remake should be” and has made our list for the best games of 2019 so far. Fanatical (and a few other PC retailers) typically offers 20 percent off big new PC releases, but 25 percent off is about the lowest a brand new game gets.

Best accessory deal: Corsair HS70 Wireless Gaming Headset

If you’re looking for a reliable pair of mid-range wireless headphones, Corsair’s HS70 is a nice choice. The headset, which usually retails for $99.99, offers 7.1 surround sound and 2.4 GHz low-latency wireless audio. The microphone is detachable, and the headset is compatible with both PC and PS4 via a USB dongle. $60 is about the lowest price you’ll find on a wireless headset with comparable features.

Best tabletop deal: Dungeons and Dragons Starter Set

Dungeons and Dragons can be an intimidating hobby to dive into, but it really shouldn’t be! If you’ve been looking to run D&D games of your own but have no idea where to begin, the Starter Set makes it super easy. The box has everything you need to, well, get started. That includes a simplified rulebook, dice, character sheets, and a booklet that explains how to run the adventure, The Lost Mines of Phandelver. (You might recognize the setting and characters from the first arc of The Adventure Zone.)

MSRP for the Starter Set is $19.99, but it’s currently on sale for more than half off.
