A Switch Pro Controller discount, Switch games on sale, and more gaming deals

A few E3 stragglers are still going strong

Most of the gaming deals from last week’s E3 festivities have come and gone, but there are a few stragglers left over that you might want to check out.

Notably (and a bit surprisingly), some Switch discounts are still available, including $20 off a few first-party Switch games and the Switch Pro Controller. We also saw a new discount on an unglamorous but very convenient Switch accessory: an extra dock. The Switch’s portability means you can play on the go easily, but it’s also nice to have a travel dock for work Smash tournaments or just an extra dock for your downstairs TV. Nintendo usually sells the dock for $89.99, but it’s also on sale for $20 off right now.

Another E3 promotion, Microsoft’s offer for one month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for $1, is still going strong as well. The new program combines the Xbox One’s online service, Xbox Live Gold, and the game subscription service Xbox Game Pass. Microsoft has offered a $1 trial month on each of those services before, but this one is unique because current Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass members can sign up too. (Usually it’s reserved for new members.) Microsoft will even convert any remaining months on your current subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate if you sign up during this introductory window.

Finally, Target’s new Xbox deal throws in a $50 gift card with a Battlefield 5 or NBA 2K19 Xbox One S bundle. The consoles are already discounted by $50, and you’ll get another $50 to spend at Target on top of those savings.

And don’t forget if you’re shopping at Amazon to take advantage of the Final Fantasy 14 Online DLC (it’s a fat Chocobo mount and it’s perfect) that’s free with any video purchase of $19.99 or more.

As always, if there’s a deal we missed or something you’d like to see covered next week, let us know on Twitter at @PolygonDeals.

Best console deal: Xbox One S bundles

Best game deal: Super Mario Odyssey

Super Mario Odyssey

  • $40

Prices taken at time of publishing.

Both Super Mario Odyssey and Mario Kart 8 are still on sale at Amazon for $39.99, the lowest price we’ve seen on any of Nintendo’s flagship Switch games. We don’t know how long this discount will last; It’s a holdover from Nintendo’s E3 eShop sale, which has since ended. So, if you’ve been thinking about grabbing one of these games now’s the time to do it.

Best subscription deal: Xbox Game Pass Ultimate

Best mouse deal: Corsair Glaive gaming mouse

Corsair Glaive Gaming Mouse

  • $31

Prices taken at time of publishing.

Corsair’s Glaive gaming mouse has interchangeable thumb grips and customizable button mapping (and of course the requisite flashy lights to show you’re a gamer). It’s currently on sale for $30.99, which is $39 off the $69.99 MSRP.

Best controller deal: Nintendo Switch Pro Controller

Best accessory deal: Nintendo Switch dock

Nintendo Switch Dock

  • $70

Prices taken at time of publishing.

An extra Switch dock is a surprisingly convenient accessory to have and it’s currently $20 off at a few retailers. Amazon is sold out (though you can order now and it’ll ship in a few months), and Walmart only has two units left at the time of writing, but Target seems to be fully stocked.

Best comics deal: BOGO Marvel comics

Marvel Comics

Digital Marvel comics, including bestsellers like Ta-Nehisi Coates’ Black Panther and The Infinity Gauntlet, are all buy-one-get-one-free at Comixology with code MARVEL2019. Brand new comics (published after June 18), bundles, and pre-orders aren’t eligible, but other than those exceptions the code can be applied to any other Marvel comics.
