The upcoming early unlock games in Humble’s August Monthly Bundle are Kingdom Come: Deliverance and Surviving Mars, the company announced on Friday. They replace the July bundle, which featured Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice and Moonlighter.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance, a Kickstarter-funded RPG set in Medieval Bohemia, bills itself as an immersive experience, dedicated to realistically portraying 15th century life. Opinions from Polygon staffers were divided when the game launched, but Steam reviews lean from “Mostly Positive” to “Very Positive” and it’s worth checking out if you’re intrigued by an RPG that plays more like a Medieval peasant life simulator than an epic, heroic quest.
Surviving Mars is a colony-planning strategy game, like an alien SimCity, from the developers of the long-running Tropico series. While earthly problems like zoning laws aren’t a concern on Mars, there are many, many more things that can go wrong in such an inhospitable environment. Surviving Mars, therefore, requires Michael Scott levels of micromanagement. According to our review, “If you’re the sort of person who enjoys losing yourself in high stakes strategy, building and planning, Surviving Mars is worth a look.”
The Humble Monthly bundle is a $12/month subscription that promises to include at least $100 worth of PC games each month. Unlike other game subscription services like Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus, the games are yours to keep even if you cancel your membership. The early games are available to play immediately, with the rest of the bundle unlocking on the first Friday of the month.
Along with the free games included in each bundle, Humble Monthly subscribers get additional perks, including 10 percent off purchases at the Humble Store (which now includes Switch games) and access to the Humble Trove, a collection of DRM-free games.
A portion of each Humble purchase goes towards a charity; August purchases will support Covenant House, an organization providing crisis support to homeless youth.
