Jeffrey Parkin (he/him) has been writing video game guides for Polygon for almost seven years. He has learned to love just about every genre of game that exists.

We’ve got two goals in Deathloop’s “Lost in Transmission” Lead: Pick up the Aether Slab and learn how to get Egor out of his lab.

Our Deathloop “Lost in Transmission” guide will help you find everything you need for the face Egor, the Aether Slab, discover Egor’s discovery, find Egor’s data, learn more about Egor, silence Egor’s device, find Egor’s control panel, reveal the control panel, unveil the invisible panel, shut down device ---- steps of this Lead.

Table of contents

Loadout

If you’ve got a Rapier sniper rifle, bring that. There’s not going to be a ton of Eternalists to deal with, so just put your favorites in the other two slots.

We recommend the Shift and Havoc Slabs for this Lead. Shift will get you past lasermines (there are so many mines) and security lasers, and Havoc will help you survive a face-off with Egor and his sniper rifle.

If you’ve picked up the Hard Headed and Turtle Shell trinkets, equip those — also for facing off against Egor.

Lost in Transmission

Egor’s buried to the glasses in research at his fortified lab. Better show this hardworking boy a good time.

Our Deathloop guides aren’t the only path through this district. You can take whatever path you want with as much stealth or combat as you see fit. Our guide focuses on the path(s) that lead to every clue and Lead, letting you pick up any useful weapons along the way, and generally avoiding combat.

For this Lead, we’re heading to The Complex in the evening to poke around Wenjie’s office.

Face Egor

Egor spends is evenings at the Complex while Aleksis parties in Updaam. Challenge AEON’s “Founder” to a fight and he might reveal how to kill them both.

Take the left path out of the tunnels and take a right. Follow the lower road up the hill. There are two turrets near the top — commandeer them so they don’t kill you.

The Aether Slab

As you start toward Egor’s Camp, you’ll get two steps to this Lead in quick succession — we’ll get to them in a minute. First, we’ve got to deal with Egor.

The problem here is that everywhere around Egor’s Camp is booby trapped and mined. Setting any of them off will alert Egor to your presence and, as you approach, he’ll target you with his sniper rifle while constantly disappearing with his Aether Slab. We’re going to guide you through a way to get close to him without alerting him, but if and when it goes wrong for you (it sure seems like Julianna likes to show up and ruin the surprise), just focus on getting close and taking him out.

Keep following the road up the hill and kick through the boards blocking the path. Look at the pillar over to the right and disarm as many of the lasermines as you can reach.

Head back to the left, and scramble the sensor below you (this will save some trouble when you come back through here). Cross over this area toward the lasermines on the far side.

Use Shift to carefully teleport past the mines. If you’ve made it this far without setting anything off, you’re good to try to stealthily kill Egor. If you haven’t, this is where the fight will happen.

Egor is ahead of you and down the hill. Head for him as quietly as you can.

Discover Egor’s Discovery and Find Egor’s Data

Observation: Egor had a breakthrough. Theory: That breakthrough will help me break the loop. Solution: Raid is lab.

and

Egor chose project over party when his experiment showed results. Must be some evidence of his “breakthrough” around here somewhere.

With him out of the way, go up the hill to his lab. Start on the first floor of Egor’s Camp. As you enter, step into the room on the left and grab the How Well Do You Know Blackreef?, Radial Fluctuations, and Uncertainty documents and the Egor’s Big Plan cassette.

Learn More About Egor

Egor’s obsessed with a transmission he discovered earlier in the day. There has to be some way I can use this against him.

Head up to the second floor and check Egor’s minicom and the AEON Optics cassette.

Silence Egor’s Device

Listening device ---- was responsible for Egor’s experimental breakthrough. Shut it up and he’ll have no reason to hang around.

We can silence Egor’s device at any point before evening, but there’s something we need that’s only at The Complex at noon.

Find Egor’s Control Panel

Where the shit’s Egor’s oversized radio dial? Better take a look around.

Head back to Egor’s camp. Deal with any Eternalists that spot you, and follow the marker to the Control Panel. It’s invisible.

Reveal the control panel

The control panel’s invisible. Because of course it is. Egor uses the thing, so he’s gotta have a way to counteract this security measure in his lab.

Back at Egor’s lab, and use Shift to smash through a window on the second floor — Shift doesn’t trigger the sensors.

While you’re here, check his minicom again to make sure you’ve got all the messages. There’s a note on some machinery there called A Feature, Not A Bug. Read that to learn you’ll need a nullifier.

Unveil the Invisible Panel

A carefully placed field nullifier will reveal the control panel. Egor has some stashed in his lab.

Luckily, there’s a pile of nullifiers right below the note. Pick one up, and head down to the Control Panel marker. Set the nullifier down and activate it. The Control Panel will appear.

Shut Down Device ----

I know which of Egor’s listening devices made his experiment a success — and I can shut it down

The code you need to enter is different every game, so check the Silence Egor’s Device step in the Visonary Leads menu.

Enter that, and the device will shut down.

Party Ghost

With the experiment sabotaged, Egor will have no reason not to attend Aleksis’ party this evening.

You’re all set to head for the exit.
