In Destiny 2: Beyond Light, Bungie removed a good chunk of the game in favor of freeing up space and adding new stuff. As a result of all that content leaving the game, several old Exotic quests are now completely gone. But their Exotics are still in the game.
To get these older Exotics, you’ll need to buy them from the Exotic Archive (Monument to Lost Lights) kiosk in the Tower — you’ll find it right next to the Vault, between Banshee-44 and Lord Shaxx. Different Exotics have different costs. In this guide, we’ll tell you how to get each currency and how much each Exotic costs.
Exotic Archive currencies
Different items require different currencies in the Monument to Lost Lights kiosk. Here’s where each of them come from if you’re new or need a refresher:
Glimmer
Glimmer is the money of the Destiny universe. It comes from everywhere, including dismantling weapons and shaders, or just killing enemies. If you’re low on Glimmer, you can go to Spider in the Tangled Shore and trade other resources to fill yourself back up.
Legendary Shards
Legendary Shards are Destiny’s secondary currency. You’ll get these whenever you dismantle a purple piece of gear or a purple shader. You’ll likely start out with only a handful of these, but you’ll eventually have more than you know what to do with.
Planetary materials
There are several different planetary materials you’ll need to get some of these older Exotics. You can collect these on various different planets — each is unique and only comes from one location — by picking them up off the ground, from inside chests, completing certain planetary bounties, or running patrols. You can use the Combo Detector Ghost mod to find both chests and planetary materials easier.
You can trade other resources for certain planetary materials by visiting Spider in the Tangled Shore.
Here’s the full list of planetary mats and their associated planet:
- Mircophasic Datalattice - Nessus
- Dusklight Shard - The EDZ
- Helium Filaments - The Moon
- Baryon Bough - The Dreaming City
- Glacial Starwort - Europa
- Spinmetal Leaves - The Cosmodrome
- Etheric Spiral - The Tangled Shore
Enhancement Prism
Enhancement Prisms are the step between the fairly common Enhancement Cores and the very rare Ascendant Shards. You can get these Enhancement Prisms by buying them from Banshee-44, buying them through The Spider, or completing activities like the Nightfall: The Ordeal on harder difficulties.
Ascendant Shard
Ascendant Shards are rare and expensive in Destiny 2. You can buy them from Banshee-44 or you can farm them by going Flawless in Trials of Osiris over the weekend or completing the Nightfall: The Ordeal on Master or Grandmaster difficulties.
Exotic Cipher
The Exotic Cipher is a super rare material and you can only have one in your inventory at a time. You can get one from the season pass each season or complete a special quest from the Exotic merchant Xur each weekend. You’ll need one of these whenever you want to buy a new Exotic from the Memorial.
Spoils of Conquest
You’ll only need Spoils of Conquest if you want to buy an Exotic that used to come from an old raid. You’ll need a lot of Spoils of Conquest if you want some of the raid Exotics, but you can farm for as many Spoils as you want. The only bad news is these only come from the raids still in the game.
To get Spoils of Conquest, run through the Deep Stone Crypt raid and collect the two “secret chests.” You can also repeat encounters you’ve already completed that week for extra Spoils of Conquest. Older raids like Last Wish and Garden of Salvation also give some Spoils of Conquest.
You can spend this currency at the Exotic Archive to get old Exotics or use them at the final chest in the Deep Stone Crypt raid to buy additional loot.

Legacy Gear
The Legacy gear section includes old Legendary weapons, most of which are already sunset — meaning they won’t be very useful to you. These items all require Glimmer, Legendary Shards, Enhancement Prisms, and Ascendant Shards.
We don’t recommend you buy any of these unless you’re awash with materials and looking to fill out your Collection.
