Head to Nessus for some exotics

Destiny 2 Xur
Ryan Gilliam (he/him) has worked at Polygon for nearly seven years. He primarily spends his time writing guides for massively popular games like Diablo 4 & Destiny 2.

If you played Destiny, you may be familiar with Xur, the weekly exotic item merchant. In Destiny 2, he’s back, and he can now appear all over the map. This week, he’s just north of the Watcher’s Grave fast travel point on Nessus and there’s a helpful icon on the planet map to show you where he is. You can find him hanging out in a big tree.

Xur’s inventory this week consists of the following:

  • The Prospector, grenade launcher: 29 Legendary Shards
  • Foetracer, Hunter helmet: 23 Legendary Shards
  • An Insurmountable Skullfort, Titan helmet: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Eye of Another World, Warlock helmet: 23 Legendary Shards

Each of the items comes at a maximum power level of 270 — a base power of 265, plus a Legendary (purple) mod that raises the value by five. This scales to your character’s power level, so make sure you’re buying Xur exotics on your highest level character.

The Prospector is a complicated weapon. While it’s a completely adequate grenade launcher, it’s rarely worth an exotic slot. Its perk, Excavation, allows you to simultaneously detonate all grenades that you have recently fired, and the launcher is fully automatic. While there isn’t a single late game activity where we’d recommend the Prospector as your exotic weapon of choice, it can be fun and useful in Heroic Public Events.

Foetracer is easily one of the most powerful PvP exotics in Destiny 2. It’s Relentless Tracker perk will automatically track enemies through walls and deal additional damage to low health targets. While the extra damage is nice, the utility of the tracking is what makes this helmet shine.

An Insurmountable Skullfort is an excellent PvE exotic for Striker Titans. It’s Transfusion Matrix perk will cause your melee ability kills to instantly trigger health regeneration as well as fully restore melee energy.

You may already have Eye of Another World if you selected it from Sloane right before the Utopia campaign mission. This helmet is a fine option for any Warlock subclass if you don’t have another exotic you should be wearing. The Cerebral Uplink perk will highlight targets for you and passively increase the regeneration of your grenade, melee and Rift abilities.
